Fieldcraft encompasses a variety of skills regarding to operation and living in the field. Cadets are taught field movements and hand signalling skills, daytime and night-time observation techniques, as well as living in the field; constructing shelter and maintaining hygiene.
Living in the field is unparalleled by most other experiences, allowing cadets to apply the skills they have learnt in the classroom. Operating in the field encourages teamwork and initiative, as cadets have to work together to accomplish a multitude of tasks, such as successfully navigating to targets, constructing lines and shelter as well as relaying information and orders.
Whilst most of these skills are only applicable in a field environment, perceptiveness and the ability to work and communicate as a team is an important asset for anyone.
